First Ride: Kawasaki’s Z900
|
|
SE Blows Away the Base Model
If you’ve got a good thing going, conventional wisdom is not to mess with it too much. That’s the track Kawasaki is taking with its new Z900 . The Japanese giant’s venerable Z900 ABS naked bike has been a high achiever, though a somewhat quiet one, but it has never possessed top-of-the-line components. The base model has ancient brakes and a soft, spongy suspension that are at odds with the lively
and spritely performance offered by the 948 cc inline-four motor. The Z900 SE, priced at $10,699, has inherited better.

Among the cars earmarked for the charity auction was the first example of the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06, which sold for $3.6 million—40 times more than the new model’s sticker price.

Stay Fit For ADV Riding
With These Proven
‘Daydreaming Fitness’ Regimes
|
|
The dopamine hit of adventure motorcycling is like no other, prompting many to pursue vast goals such as riding safer, riding longer, and, for a few, riding more aggressively.
Some ADV riders crave jumping stumps like Toni Bou. Others are on different missions, such as traveling through Africa safely or learning how to take on flat gravel roads with street-biased tires.
Regardless of the mission, proper physical and mental fitness are key to achieving these goals. That’s where “daydreaming fitness” surfaces.
But for now, let’s forget about the daydreaming portion. So, where to begin?

Mother Russia
Renaissance
Vladimir Putin and Russia have been in the news quite a bit lately. The annexation of Crimea, bombing of Syrian rebels and civilians in support of the Assad regime and cyber hacking interference in our 2016 presidential election have left US-Russian relations in worse shape since the end of the Cold War.
Now what has happened in Ukraine.
This reminded me of the song “Mother Russia” by the 70s prog rock band, Renaissance.
Mother Russia” was inspired by the Soviet treatment of writer/political activist Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn who was sent to a labor camp for 8 years for criticizing Joseph Stalin (in private letters).
Punished for his written thoughts
Starving for his fame
Working blindly, building blocks
Number for a name, his blood flows frozen to the snow
Red blood, white snow
He knows frozen rivers won’t flow
So cold, so true
Mother Russia-he cries for you
This is a heavy song, musically and lyrically, written about a weighty subject at a time when artists did such things.
Enjoy… until next week.
May the Universe Bless Ukraine
