The Voice

I don’t know when I first heard it. At some point in my development, it just arrived: my brain generated a personal narrator for my thoughts and there it was - my inner voice. It doesn’t have a recognizable accent (unless I’m watching Bogey, Morgan Freeman, or James Earl Jones). It’s not a GPS or the lady who does “Google Maps.” It doesn’t have a real form - it speaks in thought-language and it talks incessantly. When I write, it speaks the words that fly from my fingers on the keyboard and that’s the time when I have the most control over it. At other times, it speaks unbidden and unwanted.

Henderson Streamline is the Coolest Bike Never Built

With its 1,200-cc, 40-brake horsepower, in-line four-cylinder engine, the 1930 Henderson Model KJ Streamline could exceed 100 mph. In an era when streamlining was used sparingly in motorcycle design, American Orley Ray Courtney’s enclosed bodywork was virtually unknown on production two-wheelers (except for a few racing machines), making the KJ an unusual and beautiful example of Art Deco design.

The ride is free, all we ask is that you bring some non-perishable products (see above), and have a great day exploring the 120-miles of the backroads of New Jersey!

The ride starts in Newton, New Jersey and will end at the Red Wolf Inn on Route 519 in Belvidere.

If you can't make the ride, please stop by the Red Wolf in the afternoon and drop off a donation.

Nina Gorenstein in West Lafayette, Indiana, captured the waxing crescent moon on 2 consecutive days, at approximately the same time. See how – at this moon phase – the line of sunrise crawls across the moon’s face from one Earth-day to the next? Also, between these 2 photos, there was a change in the seeing or steadiness of Earth’s air. That’s why the photo on the right is clearer; the seeing was better that night. Thank you, Nina!

The Backroads Summer Sojourn

This summer we won't be squeezing anymore.

Nope - we'll being sojourning!

Following the basic formula of our Spring and Fall Rallies - the Summer Sojourn will cover lots of miles and offer plenty to see and experience.

We will be starting and finish this long weekend adventure in the familiar haunt of West Dover, Vermont, arriving Friday and returning on Monday.

In between we'll be up in the Mount Washington region and roaming around the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Maine.

As always we'll offer a few rides through the weekend and

Brian's day trip on Sunday will follow along a Rockin' in the Free World theme... without the Earthly political BS!

In fact, you might just get hold of something a bit

off-worldly. Trust us - what could go wrong?

The $2 million mid-engine coupe laid claim to the production car top speed record of 282.9 mph last year on the former Space Shuttle landing strip at the Kennedy Space Center, and returned to the three-mile-long stretch of pavement this month to see if it could go even faster.
The third time’s the charm for American carmaker SSC (formerly known as Shelby SuperCars). After a controversial speed run in Las Vegas, Nevada, last October, the Tuatara is now officially the world’s fastest production car. This time, it’s for real, and SSC has all the relevant data to back it up.
