Still Time to Join Us!
|
|
This summer we won't be squeezing anymore.
Nope - we'll being sojourning!
Following the basic formula of our Spring and Fall Rallies - the Summer Sojourn will cover lots of miles and offer plenty to see and experience.
We will be starting and finish this long weekend adventure in the familiar haunt of West Dover, Vermont, arriving Friday and returning on Monday.
In between we'll be up in the Mount Washington region and roaming around the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Maine.
As always we'll offer a few rides through the weekend and
Brian's day trip on Sunday will follow along a Rockin' in the Free World theme... without the Earthly political BS!
In fact, you might just get hold of something a bit
off-worldly. Trust us - what could go wrong?
Book today as rooms will go faster than a meteorite!

Are We Alone...
Harvard astronomer Avi Loeb is known for thinking out of the box. For example, in 2018, he suggested that ‘Oumuamua – the object from a distant solar system that’d passed near our sun the year before – might be alien technology. On April 20, 2022, in an article in The Debrief, Loeb suggested that a meteor known to have crashed in the Pacific Ocean in 2014, might also be technology from an alien
civilization.

Eight Wondrous Bridges
to Nowhere
|
|
Going somewhere?
Bridges, by definition, are there to get you from one place to another. But you won’t get far on any of these. They dot the globe, fragments of abandoned infrastructure standing as reminders of urban planning gone wrong. Some of the bridges were built for projects that never achieved their destiny, throttled by dwindling funds. Others were victims of natural disasters, demolished by nature’s wrath. Though no longer useful,
these abbreviated spans still have an allure. From a flooded footpath in Scotland to a dead-end road in South Africa, here are eight wondrous bridges to nowhere.

Mummified Mammoth Discovered
|
|
The Canadian territory Yukon – and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in, a First Nation band – said late last week (June 24, 2022) that miners in the region have discovered a whole, 30,000-year-old mummified baby woolly mammoth. It’s only the second one ever found in the world. And it’s the first and most complete discovery of its kind in North America.

Roll Me Away
Bob Seeger
Stood alone on a mountain top
Starin' out at the Great Divide
I could go East, I could go West
It was all up to me to decide
The suggestion for this week's song came from our friend Martin at InEarz, who sponsor this part of
The Backroads Report.
Superb choice, Martin - and one of the great two-wheel anthems of Rock & Roll!
