I recently read a piece by guitar guru Jonathon Boyd who asked… “Do you know why pros are able to learn so quickly and make playing guitar look so easy?” When I ask most players this question, they assume it has something to do with "natural talent". But that couldn't be further from the truth. Just read any of their stories and you'll see that professional and upcoming musicians are constantly in an environment around other
musicians — almost forcing them to grow. Whether that's getting tips from better players backstage, hearing the secrets of an old pro at a club, or even being shown exactly what to do during a jam session. Just like a plant in the right soil…
The RMS Titanic was the largest ship afloat when she made her maiden voyage in 1912, carrying some of the wealthiest individuals in the world. Before sinking, she was a marvel in both engineering and luxury. Today, the Symphony of the Seas is the largest cruise ship in the world, setting the bar for the ultimate cruise experience. See how life aboard the Titanic compared to that on The Symphony and
how sea travel has changed over the years.
Michael ONeill, author of Road Work which was featured in the March 2022 issue of Backroads with his beautiful cover image, brings you Roadcraft USA, a new website…
Let’s be honest now. How many stories can you read about other people’s excursions? How many YouTube videos can you watch of other people’s travels? How many great photographs created by other photographers can you delight in? How many success stories concerning other folks can you admire?
With those questions in mind Roadcraft USA was born. You see, we’re not here to document our success stories; we’re here to counsel you as you write your own. Maybe you want to embark on more challenging adventures. Perhaps you want to take better photographs along the way. Maybe you want to lead a healthier lifestyle and achieve greater success in all that you do. We’re here as
your guides as you navigate this road we call life.

New Jersey has a rich cinematic history, starting right at the dawn of the industry. The Garden State was once the film capital of the world, back when Hollywood was just a sleepy farm town filled with orange groves. Fort Lee and West Orange were at the epicenter, with Edison’s Black Maria studio for production and the striking Palisades Cliffs making for fantastic scenery. Over the years, many
movies have been filmed in New Jersey, including Goodfellas (Marlboro, Fort Lee, Palisades Interstate Parkway), The Godfather Part III (Atlantic City), When Harry Met Sally (East Rutherford), and War of the Worlds (Bayonne, Howell, Newark, and Elizabeth). One film shot here has had quite a lasting impact…
A copy of Marvel’s first-ever comic book, known as Marvel Comics #1 “pay copy,” sold at auction Thursday for more than $2.4 million.
“Historically speaking, the Pay Copy is the most important Marvel Comics #1 in existence and quite possibly one of the most important comics of all time,” said Vincent Zurzolo, chief operating officer of New York based auctioneer ComicConnect.
The classic comic was released in November 1939, and it introduced now famous characters, including Sub-Mariner and the Human Torch, who was later featured in “Fantastic Four.” It is known as the “pay copy” because the original publisher, Lloyd Jacquet, used to record payments to the book’s contributing artists and authors.

There are a lot of differences between being an innovator and one who is great at following the rules. Larry Carlton is a good sport and shows he can do both. I can imagine the thought process when he originally created this solo -- in the studio, working through the changes, mixing up and playing with the melody by going outside the bounds and coming back in; and thirty some years later memorizing and playing his own solo
and staying within the bounds of the original. He's having fun here and playing his heart out.
The glorious days of Spring are here and the riding is GREAT! Here's to sunny skies, warm days and long miles bringing you to great adventures. We'll see you on the road!
