Brian’s column last month elicited a handful of responses, some of which you’ll read in this issue. When he wrote it, he asked my opinion and I, being the equal partner of the opposite sex, said that it was his right to opine as he would but should know the reactions he would probably get. After getting these rebuffs, I went back and re-read his words. In the past, I have written about ‘women’s only’ events and how some
female riders look to separate themselves, whether it be in a learning situation, rally or just to ride, and have come upon the same rebuttal.
Like it or not the world is heading towards electric.
But you can still have fun, lots and lots of fun.
The Energica EGO burst on the scene at EICMA in 2013.
It was then a culmination of years of electric racing competition, with numerous victories including the 2010 European Championship during the first zero-carbon TTXGP competition and runner-up for the 2011 TTXGP World Championship.
With the EMCE motor and inverter unveiled this summer Energica has done it again – adding not only power but 10% range at higher speeds, which, let’s face it, is where you want it to be.

When the phone rang a couple of weeks ago, the voice on the end of the line sounded tired. Alone. A friend in need of a chat, someone in need of a familiar voice and a chance to maybe release some of the emotions from the pressure cooker inside his mind.
I ask, "Are you safe?"
"I'm OK, mate," he tells me. "I have an escape route."
A long pause followed, signaling the start of one of the more difficult conversations I've had in a long while...

Earth Clock is a web-based digital clock assembled from views of Earth from above that resemble numbers. Each view zooms in and out, weaving the unfamiliar to the familiar. Every minute, the views jump to a new location revealing a digit that may be a building or terrain in a foreign place, but as we zoom out, we begin to associate it with familiar landscapes, discernible shapes of countries, and
the distinct view of our planet.
Among the espionage artifacts on display at the International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C., is the rectal tool kit: a tightly sealed, pill-shaped container full of tools that could aid an escape from various sticky situations. This gadget was issued to CIA operatives during the height of the Cold War, according to museum curator and historian Vince Houghton. The tools inside the kit include drill
bits, saws and knives.
It had to be made with materials that could not splinter or create sharp edges that could injure users. Additionally, it had to seal tightly to not let anything seep in or poke out.
In the video , Atlas Obscura takes an up-close look inside the rectal tool kit.
Two networks infamously rejected the first pilot for Star Trek, "The Cage." CBS already had Lost in Space and was not in the market for more space adventures. NBC, on the other hand, passed on Star Trek because they felt it was "too cerebral." Thanks in no small part to studio head Lucille Ball, Star Trek had the extremely rare chance to go back to the drawing board and try again.
The original Captain Pike character was ditched. A new captain was cast in William Shatner. A second pilot episode was produced from the script "Where No Man Has Gone Before." And if the network thought the first story was too cerebral, well, this one would have a big, awesome laser gun in the last act.
The triple-cylinder engine, as applied to motorcycles, provides an engine that can be inherently balanced. If you listen to a triple-cylinder motorcycle, such as a Triumph Trident or BMW K75, it sounds smoothly balanced for good reason. You will also coincidently notice that an engine with a multiple of three cylinders sounds smooth by comparison with a V8 for example. An inline-6, V6 or V12 are
smooth sounding because of the relative ease with which such engines can be made balanced. So if you’re looking for a motorcycle that won’t rattle your bones, then the triples are bikes you should probably consider.

Backroads' Bleeds Blue & Orange!
Tylor Megill, who began the second no-hitter in Mets history, was unaware of what he had started until long after he left the mound. Drew Smith and Seth Lugo were in the trainer’s room when the television broadcast tipped them off; they rushed out to the dugout for the ninth. So did Joely Rodriguez, who was receiving treatment as the realization washed over him. He, too, returned to the field.
Only Edwin Diaz understood the situation while he was in the game, though by that point, it would have been difficult for anyone at Citi Field to be caught unaware.

We all need to be better riders and these two days with Reg Pridmore and company will do just that.
Since his beginnings as a racer in 1961 to his 3 AMA Superbike Championships, to CLASS beginning in 1986, Reg Pridmore has maintained an unending enthusiasm and desire to help riders by teaching control, technique and survival. From the very first days in his race leathers in Denver and Riverside, to most of the best tracks in the USA with the full CLASS team, to D-Days and Motor Officers Advanced Training at Streets
of Willow,
Reg’s CLASS continues to expand street rider enthusiasm and skill in a way that track days and race schools can’t.
There are still a VERY limited number of spots open and this might just be the last time CLASS is held here in the east.
Originally written for Nine Inch Nails' second LP, The Downward Spiral (1994), “Hurt” was written by Trent Reznor and was released officially as a single on April 17, 1995. The song later went on to receive a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song the following year.
“Hurt” includes references to self-harm and drug addiction.
Johnny Cash's version is superb.... and Rezner has said it is now Cash's song not his.
No greater compliment from a songwriter to an artist.
