                 Everyone Needs an Acoustic Guitar!

The earliest form of the guitar can be traced back to ancient civilizations, such as the Egyptians and Greeks, who developed stringed instruments with long necks and resonating bodies. Jimmy Buffett

For those of you who know Backroads  you must know we have been Parrotheads for along time.

The loss of Jimmy was painful, and shocking. He was our most quoted musician, and his songs, and tales of travel, and adventure pushed our own envelope. 

There were so many songs from Jimmy's catalog from which we could have chose. Just putting this in TBR had us at task.

So, finally we thought we needed a song that said Jimmy Buffett perfectly... We think 12-Volt Man it this.

The back story:

Mike Nesmith, a member of The Monkees, once told Buffett about a man he ran into down in Baja who is the unknown inspiration for this song. During the Baja race, Mike broke down in the middle of nowhere and went to a small village to wait for his repair team. He ran into an American - a fisherman who lived in a small hut with what he called "the essentials." He had a collection of Buffett's albums, packaged margarita mix from America, an old Waring blender, and a tape recorder hooked up to a peculiar power system made out of a Honda generator and a Sears DieHard battery.

Jimmy took it from there.

Sail, on Jimmy, sail on....
