I Saw The Light

It was late last night

I was feeling something wasn't right

There was not another soul in sight…

Then there was. One of these drivers that think if a few lights are good and a loaded lightbar at 110% should be awesome. Maybe. In the desert, but not on rural or suburban roads. The pick-up rounded the turn, and the lights that he thought would give him vision took mine away.

“Ugh. Turn the brights off, buddy!” I flashed my high beam, illuminating my own Denali LEDs. The power of the sun.

His reaction was to ride past me, his horn blaring and telling me I was number 1. How excellent; but you started it.

I like light. The more the better. But as Uncle Ben said… ‘With great power comes great responsibility’.

Will you know how to help your fellow rider immediately following a motorcycle accident? The first 5-30 minutes after a motorcycle crash are critical. Learn how and what you can do to help.
MotoVermont is pleased to host Dr. Lee Morrisette and The Road Guardians of America for this life-saving course. "A Crash Course for the Motorcyclist,” an Accident Scene Management class that teaches bystanders to become the bridge between the time of an incident and the arrival of trained professionals.
This training has been credited with reducing injuries and fatalities not only in motorcycle crashes, but any real-world accident where rescue professionals are some distance away.
Join MotoVermont on April 6th at their new HQ in Milton, VT for this fun and educational class. Coffee, refreshments and a homemade lunch will be served.

Well here it is, the Backroads' Spring Break 2024!

This long weekend will start on a Thursday, along the upper Delaware River in Hancock, New York and then meander west to Williamsport, Pennsylvania. This region of the Endless Mountains is a pure joy to ride and explore.

This SB will be a bit different, and we want to see how good you are at navigating and route planning. Any Road Whisperers out there?

The # 1 rule is Nulla Praecepta - have at it!

So, you got the basics... now it's up to you. Create your best route for any given day, and send your GPX files to editor@backroadsusa.com.

These routes will be judged by Mr. Notso Happy, Pepe & Spenser T. Cat, and the top journeys will be posted for all.
