We just watched a show from Modern Marvels about the history of motorcycles. Granted, this was made in 2002 so it was missing MANY of the new history-making models of the past 20 years, but it was still pertinent, informative and entertaining.

One of the tidbits of information leading into riding motorcycles was the ‘re-entry of riders’ after a hiatus due to jobs/marriage/babies/etc. The line which caught my ear was something like ‘Now you were on your own and there were no parents to tell you what to do or not do.’

Well here it is, the Backroads' Spring Break 2024!

This long weekend will start on a Thursday, along the upper Delaware River in Hancock, New York and then meander west to Williamsport, Pennsylvania. This region of the Endless Mountains is a pure joy to ride and explore.

This SB will be a bit different, and we want to see how good you are at navigating and route planning. Any Road Whisperers out there?

The # 1 rule is Nulla Praecepta - have at it!

So, you got the basics... now it's up to you. Create your best route for any given day, and send your GPX files to editor@backroadsusa.com.

These routes will be judged by Mr. Notso Happy, Pepe & Spenser T. Cat, and the top journeys will be posted for all.

This has long been a Backroads' favorite!

New Jersey has some amazing steakhouses, ranging from high-end city joints where you can feast on the world’s best cuts to humble old-school joints where affordable cuts of beef are served up with flair. However, few people have discovered the best-hidden steakhouse in New Jersey – Red Wolfe Inn. This classic bar-and-grill is found on a country road in Belvidere, located in a building that looks like it could have been hundreds of years old.
