When the Big Dog's Away...

30 years of putting together one of, if not THE, finest motorcycle magazines available in the United States, alongside my best friend, husband and partner in adventures, traveling together around the globe, wheel to wheel, through thick and thin. Working side by side, albeit on opposite sides of our office, with 360 issues behind us and who knows how many more ahead. Yes, we spend a lot of time together.

Our home, while not palatial, offers enough space for each of us to disappear for those needed alone times – Brian heading to the barn to tinker with a bike, putter on his Hot Wheels track expansion, adjust and tune something on the STI – and me picking and pruning in the wildness of our garden, visiting with our resident frogs or simply taking a walk with Spenser through our peaceful piece of woodland. But I ultimately find myself drawn back to the work of the day, even though the loveliness of late spring/early summer sits right beyond the sliding glass door of the office.

We don't think you have much to fear about Lucky 13!

After a year off the 13th Backroads' Summer Squeeze Rally will head back to Southern Vermont, and we have rooms blocked at both the Gray Ghost Inn and the Kitzhof Inn - both just down the road from each other on Route 100, in West Dover, Vermont.

This rally "squeezes" in some great riding during a part of the week that sees the roads of Vermont far more open and free of traffic.

It is simply great riding and so much more fun!

There will be a couple of very neat routes, and maybe a bit of fun & games along with them, along with some evening porch guitar time.

There’s as little agreement about World UFO Day as there is about the alien lifeforms that may (or may not) pilot them. Everyone's Gone to the Movies

Steely Dan

This last Steely Dan track is from one of our favorite Steely Dan albums Katy Lied.

Once again Becker & Fagen go very dark, and it does not take a warped mind to know what they are singing about.

This song tells the story of a man who shows 8mm porn movies to young boys. With its lilting melody and catchy chorus, it's easy to misinterpret the track as a playful kids' song about going to the movies.

It is not.

At least one theater operator in the United States used the chorus of this song on the speakers prior to the coming attractions.
