For those of us who have chosen the northeast portion of this beautiful country to call our home and have devoted a major portion of our lives to riding these invigorating and enticing two-wheeled machines of joy, we are on the cusp of the most horrific time of the year. If you fall into the category of Polar Bear Riders, continue past this page and enjoy your time of year. Those who can escape the dreaded doldrums of hibernation, or at least find some other equally as stimulating activity to pass the white and wintery time, can count themselves blessed. Perhaps you have a project bike upon which to lavish your now-free time usually spent on exploring mystery roads, country lanes and empty byways. Lucky you.

2025 Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX

Hot on the heels of announcing the Versys 1100, Kawasaki has officially confirmed a new Ninja 1100SX for 2025. The Ninja receives similar updates to what was announced for the Versys 1100 (which has now also been confirmed for the U.S. market). The best news, though, is despite the larger engine, the Ninja 1100SX’s U.S. pricing will remain at the same $13,699 as the 1000SX model. Kawasaki also confirmed an SE version with upgraded Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes for $15,399.

A Warranty Primer

In a recent letter to 'Rider to Rider' in the MOA’s BMW Owners News magazine, a fellow MOA member complained about what he regarded as a poor response from a company that sold him a helmet for a problem that was evidently no longer covered by the helmet’s warranty. Shortly after reading that letter, I overheard a woman at the service counter of a repair shop complain that the repair warranty on her smart phone was “awfully short” and now she had to pay to fix it again. Both complaints arise, I believe, from the same lack of appreciation of how the cost of warranty repairs impact the price of goods and services.

The Truth is Still Out There... Maybe

An enlightening new study has determined the top cities in the United States for UFO sightings as well as when one is most likely to spot something unusual in the sky. Produced by the website BetUS, the project examined the last decade of cases collected by the esteemed National UFO Reporting Center to develop a ranking of the best American locations for possibly spotting a proverbial flying saucer. Taking the top spot on the list was Phoenix, Arizona with a whopping 323 sightings since 2023. Find out the rest of the top 5 cities as well as which community wound up at the bottom of the list

Astrophysicists May Have Found the Source of Mysterious Wow! Signal
The signal, recorded in 1977, was at first suspected to be an alien transmission.

On August 15, 1977, the Big Ear observatory in Ohio picked up an unusually intense radio signal. The signal was so unique that it prompted astronomer Jerry Ehman to draw a red circle around it and scribble the word ‘Wow!’ to highlight his amazement. Since then, the Wow! signal, as it came to be known, has puzzled scientists who were unable to pinpoint its source. However, a new project dedicated to solving the mystery of the signal may have had a breakthrough.
