Welcome to the new year... 2025, the first Backroads Report of the new year; and though this is a weekly e-newsletter, we have always hoped to give you a bit of both sensical motorcycle, travel, history, and irreverence each Saturday morning.

(Except Vas, who we try to give a more fun Friday night)

As the new season rolls about expect more - much more from this site.

We will always be a 'print' publication - but look for more semi-real time motorcycle news and events to be found at www.backroadsusa.com.

And, unlike some MC websites that are made in a grandparents' basement - know ours is designed, created and put forth from the Backroads Central offices by our crack team.... which are in the lower level of the palatial estate, and technically a basement - but it is ours dammit, not MeeMa's.

I admit it. I am a certified Selenophile. Especially when on the road. The truth is, I do it at home too; and when I am with Shira, we do it together.

Whoa – hold on kids, this is not what you think…

I would say I am proud of being such, but I think many of us who spend a lot of time on the road, away from home, do the same thing.

I watch the moon… it keeps me grounded.

York Swap Meet

Shira, Brian, Mark Byers and his Dangerous Dan Crew have rendezvoused at this Swap Meet for years now!

This is a VERY cool event, and a perfect way to get a two-wheel fix in the winter.

There will be a cacophony of old bikes for sale. The swap meet is largely vintage dirt bike focused - 1960's to mid 1990's Japanese and European are popular along with some road bikes and specialized race bikes. Parts - new & old- to get your project running, old memorabilia as well as NEW apparel/accessories can be found here too.

Come early - stay late.

What's In A Roar?

Crafting Godzilla's Iconic Sound

Godzilla roared to No. 1 at the box office on opening weekend. The latest reboot of the sci-fi blockbuster brings a new take on the monster's iconic roar to the silver screen. If you have not seen Godzilla Minus One than we PROMISE you will dig it.

But Godzilla has a very ico0nic roar, does he not?

Ethan Van der Ryn and Erik Aadahl designed the sound for the new movie.

"I think that the Godzilla roar probably tops the King Kong roar in terms of iconic-ness," Van der Ryn says.

"It leaves a big footprint," Aadahl says. But how do they duo it?

Bonus Godzilla tip : Stay out of public transportation if GZ is in town... just sayin.
